Oi! I resent that Mr H. The Topgun was awesome!!!
Good to hear you're getting a few good rides in - looking forward to getting back out with FO in the summer.
Aaaanyway, as you all seem to be spending your hard-earned cash on new bikes, I decided to unleash a new "beast" of my own. (No insinuation there boys). Hardcore or what???
Yesterday was AWESOME.

Scott detailed the antics so I won't go there but whilst I may not have been as prolific in 'big stunts' (careful how you say that) I did still push my boundaries and buzzed off it! A couple of firsts for me with drops, and some really pushing myself and the bike almost made up for the fact that somewhere on Thurstaston moor lie my car keys!!

T-shirts are expected this week.

Good post Chris! Looks like you had fun... and the bike in the photo looks better then Mumford's bike last year hehe!
Yeah we'll be off to Glentress again in late April. Email Scott if you haven't reserved a place already!
Yesterday was a PROPER bike ride! Awesome day out.
We arrived on schedule ish, and with the usual delays we headed off about 12. A clear, but cold day, but we soon warmed up with the tesco steps the first hurdle. Though some old cUnt tried to elbow me off my bike en route. His elbow now hurts, my bike doesn't! Old people.....get over it!
After the steps we hit a DH section, then more steps and jumps and then the real fun began. Testing the bike out on ~10ft drops was great fun. Still, I managed my first crash on my new steed! Soft landing, all good! As the day went on, Jimbo and Tez seemed determined to find something a step further for the beast. And boy we did! Phil tried it first off, what a hero, though the buckled front wheel maybe proves his line choice needs working on! Good effort though! With that in mind i went for it, after all, i'm not going to pay all that money and not use the beasts 'talents'! First off i ended up sliding down sideways as I'd got on the brakes and the sandstone wasn't having it! I was fearing for the bike more than me though! Second time out I nailed it after some long thought! The buzz from nailing that was something I've never felt before, truly awesome!
The rest of the day continued with some good jumps and stunts from all, and on the long cycle home, my legs killed, the stinky is not an athlete, its a hardcore weight lifter! Still, managed a jump off from a section of 7or8 steps. Photos are tops (though.....maybe get those able to use the stills camera trying to 'snap' me when doing stunts!), and hopefully some good footage for the next dvd.
Great day out, I'm now pushing the boundaries of me and the new bike, but it just gives me so much confidence.....awesome. Who's next for full susser........re-in-f*cking-state!

I often try and fit in some biking on holiday - as you can see my latest trip to Thailand saw me tackling some extreme terrain with my trusty steed!!

an unofficial 'fearingout' visit to Glentress happened last weekend - some friends of mine attacked the red route with hired bikes - report to follow perhaps but sounds like they had a dollop of fun mixed in with a sprinkling of crashes!

bike news - new wheel needs fitting to my bike for the 2006 season - unfortunately new bike dreams are fading due to the fact i've gone and bought a RenaultSport Clio 172Cup!! Tesco value food it is then for the next few years!

Just renewed the Fearingout.co.uk domain for another 24 months so we'll be here for a while longer yet!

Looking into filming the next DVD in widescreen. Watch this space!

Big tyres + Big suspension = Big grip
Big grip + Big brakes = Big smiles
Big smiles + Big hills = MAHOOOSIVE smiles

Good work - sounds like fun had by all - wish I could have made it. Its beginning to sound unlikely that I'll be able to keep up with Mr Warnock's 7" Stinky beast on my lowly 5" Coiler Dee-lux... hehe but it'll be fun trying.

Next ride on the 19th Feb. Looking forward to it already... will be digi cameras, fisheye b+w camera and video footage, so media will be thoroughly covered.

T-shirt news
T-shirts are in the process of being ordered today. Once I have a delivery date from the supplier I shall post it on here.
Sunday 5th Feb. An 'unofficial' ride saw 4 memebers of FO head out into Macc forrest to attack charity lane, then the famous"Chris's Path", followed by dropping down to Teg's nose and up an epic climb to then drop off the end of the nose into the knee jerking descent towards the reservoir once more. An epic rdie really, we were all in jovial spirits and despite the mist, we managed to see where we were going!

The beast simply chewed everything up and spat it out without effort. Charity lane isn't the fearful place it once was, and as I flew past a bystander, I think he just about saw me speed past! Chris trail was ace, and then heading down to Teg's nose, the rocky path is developing into some good fun once more (having been filled in for who-knows-what reasons). There was quite a bit of pushing up hills going on with myself and Chris (poor lad has holiday-blues fitness levels!) worst offenders! Teg's nose descent was sharp, tight and verging on scary, but felt a lot better on the beast of course :) Then to finish, we rode the reservoir steps back to the cars. Top day out, cheers to all.

I'm back!

Returning from the pistes of the French Alps has left me with an appetite for going down steep things at speed. There are two reasons for this... One is Aiguille Rouge Glacier... a 2000m black run descent, where you go fast or you don't bother. The second reason is the Apocolypse Snow Park at Les Arcs, which made me try things that I probably would have held back on had I been riding a bike, due largely to the soft landing afforded by fresh powder snow... Oh and all the onlooking snowboarders who didn't think skiiers can do jumps. How wrong they were!

So here I am back in Angleterre, with a view to doing a good deal more riding in 2006. The new Marzocchi suspension on the Rockhopper, which I still haven't fully tested, will now have a chance to prove itself. I might even spend some money on some new pads for the disc brakes, although the massive 205mm front rotor would be vicious with all that extra bite.

Then again if I had a full susser I probably wouldn't need brakes...
Just a quick post to say, the beast rocks!

Went out on Monday afternoon (alone!) down Macc Forest and had an absolute blast. Had a day off and made my way down the M6 from Scotland all excited at getting the bike out, got to Macc Forrest about 2 and set off to charity lane. No real issues and the climb wasn't so bad, so maybe the added weight won’t kill me after all!

At the top of charity lane i was fearing the ice again, as there was plenty indication on the way up of how icey cold it was! Despite this I bombed down and flew until the ice stretched across the whole width of the downhill. I 'slowly' passed over about 30m of sheet ice, then bombed all the way to the bottom, styling it off a great jump and at the "bottom rumble strip" (newly named!), the bike just breezed through it.

Then headed down the damn stone filled path towards the little church (dunno the path name!) and that path is fun now! The rocks have washed away slightly and it's quite good fun at break-neck speed! A few heart in mouth moments, but that was no probs for the bike, just me to get used to the “no need for braking” style the beast brings!

I headed to standing stone car park, heading for the ‘boardwalk’. Not been down here in a while, but the geometry of the bike, with its increased grip (by how many times I don’t know!) meant I breezed through here. The steps were vicious in bits, but no probs. Beyond the boardwalk, again, the bike just seemed unbothered by anything, and I genuinely think the brakes aren’t required through there, even though the steps come thick and fast with rocks towards the end.

A great ride (even though alone) and the bike definitely left me with a massive grin!

....The beast rocks....
